Kevin Satterfield - Documentarian, Independent Film Producer

from Talking to Cool People w/ Jason Frazell

Send us Fan MailKevin gets introduced to an amazing and time wasting website, goes deep on why he is so driven to create films that matter and Kevin and Jason spend some time digging in on each other's Myers Briggs personality types."Be still."Kevin Satterfield is a documentarian based in Brooklyn, NY. Through his films, he aims to change the existing media landscape by centering voices of marginalized communities. While he has a particular focus on queer communities and Black communities right now, he is broadly focused on telling stories that have the capacity to broaden the dialogue on topics such as racism, queerphobia, ableism, misogyny, femmephobia, and class. Like a lot of people, Kevin is a product of historical movements, personal experiences, and interests. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Emory University where he spent much of his young adulthood learning about the social anthropology of various fights for civil liberties. More broadly, being a Black queer person has shaped his own idea of self, the world, and the films he creates. Movements such as the Queer Liberation Movement and the African-American Civil Rights Movement of the 20th century and the rise of Black Lives Matter in the contemporary national discourse have fueled his desire to challenge social norms and illustrate the humanity he believes is owed to those that have been systematically denied that right. https://www.instagram.com/seventh_kevin kevinpierresatterfield.com https://www.facebook.com/kevin.satterfield2https://www.instagram.com/wethecollectivedoc/Enjoying the podcast?
