Khakee (2004)

In the latest episode of the podcast, we revisit Rajkumar Santoshi’s 2004 police drama Khakee — a personal favorite for both Saahil and Saqib. A tense, gripping film that goes beyond the cop-versus-criminal setup to examine a deeply corrupt political system, where sacrificing a few of its own becomes an acceptable price for securing a political victory. Amitabh Bachchan is terrific as the battle-hardened veteran police officer, leading an outstanding ensemble that includes Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Tusshar Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Kamlesh Sawant, Atul Kulkarni, and Ajay Devgn. We dive into what makes Khakee work, its political undercurrents, the performances, and why the film continues to hold up more than two decades later.
