Why this series? Family is God’s design to display his glory. We praise God for he has given us such a beautiful web of relationship in order for us to grow in both dimensions, vertical and horizontal. We are in family. On the other side of the coin, family has also become a hub where demonic narratives are taught, applied and lived out. In other words, culture, values, practices in family are shaped by false stories. For example, money, sex, and romance have been narrated as everything – the goal of human relationship. Tim Keller puts these forces in the context of idolatry. In Nepal for many reasons, marriages are broken, divorce rate is increasing, single mother and father also going up every day and children, youth are left in their own. Overseas work, distant relationship, financial insecurity, family planning, extra marital affairs and other reasons are causing much problem in a family. Not surprisingly, Church has suffered the same consequences. Family care and counseling is seen as an urgent ministry of the church today. Though we are not fixer we are ought to love one another, serve each other, and to practice the presence of the Holy Spirit who applies and brings gospel renewal in our relationship as an antidote to make us grow in His Image – Jesus Christ. Thus, the way Jesus lived as a family member, the things he spoke and taught about family system is the only true and reliable Gospel story.
