Khutbah: The Real 'Tilaawah' of the Quran in Ramadhaan

from Friday Sermons (Khutbahs)

Moosaa Richardson reminds us about how the Prophet (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) made 'tilaawah' (reading/implementation) of the Quran in his night prayers. He would pause at Verses of Mercy, begging his Lord for Mercy. He would pause at Verses of Punishment, seeking refuge with Allaah from it. He would supplicate with its supplications. All of this with a careful, deliberate recitation. In our night prayers in Ramadhaan (and outside of Ramadhaan), this amazing level of dedication and interaction is largely missing. May Allaah aid us in reviving this forgotten Sunnah. This Friday khutbah was recorded at al-Masjid al-Awwal in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA) on 1438.09.14.
