Kids & Bodies. What Do They Know? ~ Petrina Fava

What do kids know about bodies that we are not willing to acknowledge? We try to control what they eat, how much they eat, when they eat, when they sleep and how much they sleep, what they wear and even how they move. We give them “code names” for body parts.How many of our own conclusions about bodies are we projecting onto our kids? How early do they learn that bodies are to be hidden, not talked about or even shameful? Are we protecting them? Or teaching them to disregard their awareness and dampening their natural ability to communicate with their bodies?
