Sara Glendenning failed third grade because she was reading on the kindergarten level and the struggle was too big for her to overcome at the time. Sara has a visual perceptual disorder which made it very difficult for her to recognize letters including differentiating if they were uppercase or lowercase. In kindergarten, Sara thought the only thing she could do was to cheat on her alphabet test. Together, we discuss specific strategies particularly those based in communication and positive mindset to students who have a visual perceptual disorder.
