Kill The Cow. New wine requires a new wineskin. A new wineskin means you have to kill the cow. In the Old Testament, wine was stored in vessels made from animal skins. Before there could be fresh wine, there had to be a new and prepared (vessels) wineskin. We are the vessels God desires to use. We are the containers meant to receive the new wine of His Spirit. If we are not participating in God's preparation, if we resist him can we truly expect to receive fresh outpouring? In Gospel of Matthew 9:17, Gospel of Mark 2:22, and Gospel of Luke 5:37–38, Jesus Christ teaches that new wine cannot be poured into old wineskins. New wine expands, but old, rigid skins burst under pressure. His message is clear: the grace of God and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit require a renewed, flexible, surrendered vessel.The question becomes: Do we truly want a move of God, or do we simply want things to remain comfortable and familiar?Questions to Ask yourself* What “old wineskins” (man made traditions, mindsets, comforts) might I be holding onto?* Do I enter into church services expecting God to challenge me, change me, prepare me? * If I am never challenged, changed should I expect God to give me fresh experiences with him? * Is my heart flexible enough for God to stretch me?* Am I praying for new wine but resisting the preparation process?* Do I want revival, or do I want routine?* What in my life needs to die so something new can live?
