Sandra has recently published a book detailing her family's descent from the family of William Wordsworth and also the Lefroy family's intriguing association with Jane Austen. Sandra first spoke to the Local History Society in October 2017—its second-ever talk-and now, nearly nine years later, she returns to share more intriguing family histories. Sandra will also revisit her 2017 talk on The Phoenix, the steam launch built in 1872 for Colonel William Spaight of Limerick and Derrycastle. This remarkable vessel has been owned by the Lefroy family not once but twice. Based for much of her life in Killaloe, The Phoenix has been a home to Sandra and her family and is regarded as one of Ireland's most important heritage boats.
