Kilrush Genealogy Conference 2026: From The Great Famine To The 1926 Census

Last April marked a milestone in Irish genealogy with the long-awaited public release of the 1926 Irish Census—the first new census records to become available in 65 years.   To celebrate this historic moment and help people discover more about their Irish roots, the Kilrush and District Historical Society is hosting the Kilrush Genealogy Conference 2026: From the Great Famine to the 1926 Census, taking place from the 9th to the 11th of October in West Clare.   Joining Alan Morrissey was one of the conference organisers, Mary-Alice Wildasin, to tell us more about what's planned and why this is such an exciting time for anyone interested in family history.
