The Korean Peninsula has been embroiled in conflict since June 1950, with North Korea actively participating in the Ukraine War and providing military support. South Korea has signed weapons agreements with NATO European countries, particularly Poland, and has been involved in NATO as a partner country. Despite facing public setbacks, such as the botched launch of a destroyer, North Korea has positioned itself for military ascendance. The new South Korean president, Lee Jae-myung, has sought rapprochement with North Korea and has publicly aimed to re-establish dialogue with the North. North Korea has stated that its nuclear program is off-limits to negotiations with South Korea or the United States, and it may make humiliating demands of South Korea as it tries to reproachment with the North. The situation on the Korean Peninsula seems to favor North Korea, as its nuclear program has resurfaced in discussions, often for less than favorable reasons.North Korea's nuclear weapons are being used as a means to secure international aid, a strategy that has played a significant role in preserving the country's dynastic power. The international community seems willing to assist North Korea in preserving its dynasty and control of nuclear weapons. North Korea is shifting from conventional military forces to relying more on nuclear capabilities, particularly through its extensive missile program. To strengthen its nuclear capabilities, North Korea needs to miniaturize its warheads and develop re-entry vehicles. Russia could provide valuable assistance in this area to speed up the development curve. North Korea is also constructing a new uranium enrichment site, which aligns with Kim Jong Un's statements about the expansion of its nuclear arsenal.
