Kinda Cute- Ep. 89 - The Rise and Fall of Align, an Astrology Dating App ft. Helen Grossman

Kinda Cute is a podcast about The Cut by New York Magazine and niche pop culture/internet culture. This week is a special episode featuring Helen Grossman, the Directing Producer at Paradam, a creative production studio. In 2014, before there were tons of dating apps on the scene and Tinder ruled all, Helen co-founded an app called Align-a dating app that guided its users through astrology. We go deep into how the idea came out, the struggles with starting an app at age 24, and the eventual end of Align and the flood of feelings that came with that ending. But first we are chatting: *Bennifer going strong and A-Rod is maybe pissed? *Kat Dennings is engaged?! *Lily James and Sebastian Stan are Unrecognizable *FL Woman pretends to be highschooler for Instagram Links to the articles we discussed: https://www.thecut.com/2021/05/ellen-degeneres-is-ending-her-show-in-2022.html https://www.thecut.com/2021/05/a-rod-is-reportedly-shocked-by-the-bennifer-reports.html https://people.com/crime/woman-arrested-allegedly-posing-as-student-in-high-school-to-promote-instagram/ My Legit: Blue Bell Orange Swirl Ice Cream Helen's Legit: *The vaccine *Necessaire Body Exfoliator in Eucalyptus: https://bit.ly/3uPjx9M *Her Oracle Deck: https://bit.ly/3w5BIIs Helen's Psychic: https://www.spiritspeakstosoul.com/about-me The Ask Polly Column from The Cut she mentioned: https://www.thecut.com/2017/03/ask-polly-why-do-i-only-want-unavailable-men.html Find Helen @helenisaghost on insta Please rate, review and subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts! or at https://ratethispodcast.com/kindacute YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3AdncAo8wXIAR-WZq6Vbnw?sub_confirmation=1 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/baileyevin/ https://www.instagram.com/kindacutepodcast https://www.instagram.com/gurgipom xx, bailey evin ps this may contain affiliate links. thank you for supporting my podcast
