Kindness That Reflects Christ

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”Ephesians 4:32Kindness is often thought of as a small gesture, but in God’s Word it is presented as a mark of Christian character. Paul does not merely encourage believers to be polite; he calls us to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving. These qualities are not natural to our sinful hearts, they are the fruit of a life transformed by the grace of God.The greatest motivation for forgiving others is found in the last part of the verse: “even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” We did nothing to deserve God’s forgiveness. Christ bore our sins on the cross so that we could be reconciled to God. When we remember the depth of His mercy toward us, it becomes much harder to hold on to bitterness, resentment, or an unforgiving spirit.This verse also reminds us that kindness begins in the heart. A tenderhearted believer seeks to understand, to help, and to show compassion, even when others are difficult or undeserving. Every day presents opportunities to reflect Christ through our words, attitudes, and actions. A gentle response, a willingness to forgive, or a simple act of kindness may be the very thing God uses to encourage someone else.Today, ask yourself: Does my life display the kindness and forgiveness that Christ has shown me?PrayerHeavenly Father, thank You for forgiving me through the Lord Jesus Christ.
