Kinematics - Part 1

from Quantum Foam

Here is the forty-fourth episode of Quantum Foam, Kinematics - Part 1. In college, various physics subjects will be covered roughly in order where you can build upon the science. I want to go over specific examples in this subject. We like to do easier topics at the beginning of another 10 episodes. Kinematics is the branch of physics that studies the motion of objects. It focuses on the geometric aspect of motion, such as position, velocity, and acceleration. Position is the location of an object in space. Velocity is the rate at which an object changes its position in space. Acceleration is the rate at which an object's velocity changes over time. Kinematic analysis involves measuring quantities that describe motion. Motion is described at its fundamental core. You have before the event, during the event, and after the event. Understanding Kinematics allows more advanced studies in science. We have dynamics, which examines the forces in the influencing motion. We need to actually get into some problems here. Scalers, vectors, distance and displacement, speed and velocity, and acceleration are included. We are concerned with 1D Kinematics. Mechanics is the study of the motion of objects in general. Kinematics is the science of describing the motion of objects using words diagrams, numbers, graphs, and equations. It is a branch of Mechanics. We want to describe real-world objects. Mechanical Engineering is why we live in a modern world. We describe motion using terms we will become familiar with. Consider the following diagram. A physics teacher walks 4 meters east, 2 meters south, 4 meters west, and 2 meters north. This makes the shape of a box. The distance is 12 meters and the displacement is 0 meters. Displacement is a vector quantity. Either side of the box cancels each other out. Scalar quantities are simply a number that is descriptive. Speed is a scalar quantity. Velocity is a vector quantity and has a direction. It is the rate at which an object changes its position. There is an average speed and average velocity. There is instantaneous speed, which is the speed at any given point. The average speed is the average of all instantaneous speeds. Speed is distance divided by time. The topics we are discussing will help keep our minds fresh. We will go into another episode of Kinematics when we get time. Next, we go into acceleration. There is a general flow of material when taking physics at the college level or higher levels. Sometimes prerequisites are required to be able to follow along. Einstein revolutionized acceleration. Gravity is a specific type of acceleration, which is caused by gravitational forces. In General Ralativity, gravity is described as being the curvature of space-time, which effects how an object can accelerate. We will have to continue discussing more Kinematics next episode.

I.G. @inespadar Explicit Finding Quantum Quest Du Vide Media Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey might be the biggest movie you've never heard of. It's a 2010 animated sci-fi movie starring Chris Pine, John Travolta, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amanda Peet, James Earl Jones, Mark Hamill, William Shatner, Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Alexander, Sandra Oh, and Neil Armstrong. It ran in one theater in Kentucky, then disappeared forever. It never got a wide theatrical release or home video release and it's never been on any streaming services. I set out to find Quantum Quest and along the way found there's a lot more to this story than your typical lost media piece, and the butterfly effect of this movie reaches further than I could have imagined. Finding Quantum Quest started as the search for a lost movie but ended up being much more. I spoke with filmmakers, actors, NASA employees, and neuroscientists who led me down a rabbit hole of art, science, exploration, and ultimately what it means to be human.
