King Arthur: History, Legend and Myth

This PODCAST is the transcription of a discussion with historian Franco Cardini on the legend of King Arthur. The discussion traces the evolution of the legend from its possible historical origins in the fifth century with a Roman-Breton leader, through the various medieval reworkings in Wales, France and England. The role of key figures such as Merlin, Lancelot, and Guinevere is examined, as well as the influence of Arthurian myth on European culture, including literature, art, music, and even politics.
