Kingdom Greatness | Week 4

What are you doing with your 90,000 hours? The average adult will spend roughly one-third of their life working—whether that is paid professional labor, running a household, or navigating school. Yet many followers of Jesus are unsure how their faith connects to their daily occupations. In Week 4 of our Kingdom Greatness series, Pastor Alex Gowler breaks down a powerful biblical theology of work, shattering the common myth that full-time ministry or writing big checks are the only ways to honor God. True kingdom greatness isn't found in using your job for self-fulfillment or survival; it is unlocked when we view our daily tasks as a primary calling to honor God and serve others. Whether you are clocking into a corporate office, working a trade, or managing a home, this message will challenge your daily perspective and reveal how your ordinary labor can hold extraordinary eternal value. Key Takeaways from This Message: - Work is a Created Gift, Not a Curse: Long before sin entered the world, God established work in the Garden of Eden. Because God is a worker, our labor is a fundamental way we reflect His image. - Redefine Your Purpose: While fair compensation and personal satisfaction are wonderful perks of a job, they are not its ultimate purpose. The true purpose of work is generosity and loving service. - Your Daily Tasks Are True Worship: Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us that whatever we do, we are ultimately serving the Lord Christ. Every spreadsheet, customer interaction, and manual task is an opportunity for worship. - The Reframe Questions: To shift from a worldly mindset to kingdom greatness, routinely ask yourself: "Who is on the other side of the work I am doing?" and "How does my work make their life a little better?" Reflect & Discuss: What is one practical change you can make this week to view your daily tasks as an act of service to others rather than just a way to earn a living?
