Fifty years ago next month - January of 1973 - Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley launched the band KISS. Author James Campion (Shout It Out Loud: The Story of Kiss's Destroyer and the Making of an American Icon") is on the podcast to talk about the band's rise to prominence thanks to endless determination by the original four members, an incredibly creative and just as hard-working manager (Bill Aucoin) and a genius producer (Bob Ezrin) to become the biggest band in the world by the end of the 1970s. Some say KISS is overrated, some say they're overrated.
