Knicks Leave Gotham Sports For DAZN: EVERYTHING You Need To Know

The way Knicks fans stream games is changing. MSG Networks and YES Network are moving their direct-to-consumer streaming experience from Gotham Sports to DAZN, and CP The Fanchise goes directly to the source to find out what Knicks fans should expect. DAZN SVP of Strategy and Business Development Xander Berlinsky joins Knicks Fan TV to explain how the transition will work. Existing Gotham Sports subscribers are expected to receive a streamlined migration process, with accounts carried over and users primarily needing to reset their passwords. Customers who already paid for annual plans will have the remainder of those subscriptions honored after the transition. What about pricing? Berlinsky says DAZN plans to maintain the existing Gotham Sports pricing structure at launch, with potential promotional offers around the beginning of the season. Cable subscribers will also continue to have the ability to authenticate through their television provider without purchasing an additional streaming subscription. CP and Xander also tackle one of the biggest questions from Knicks fans outside New York: Will DAZN eliminate regional restrictions? The answer is no. Knicks broadcasts will remain subject to league-mandated geographic restrictions, meaning out-of-market viewers will generally still need NBA League Pass. Then the conversation turns toward the streaming experience itself. Xander discusses DAZN's approach to reducing latency, support across connected TVs, browsers, gaming consoles, phones and tablets, plus potential interactive features including live chats, quizzes and polls. Could Knicks fans eventually get alternate broadcasts similar to the ManningCast? Xander says those features won't be available at launch, but different alternate presentations are among the possibilities DAZN and MSG could explore over time.
