“Gideon, you are a mighty warrior”. “Simon, you are Peter - solid as a rock”. When an angel addressed Gideon as a mighty warrior, and Jesus addressed Simon as the rock on which He would build His church, God was revealing their “true identity” in contrast to the “false identities” they believed about themselves.
