Knowledge Is Power
from The Autistic Mile · host Jim Gaffney
Fear is easy to sell—but understanding takes a little more work. Both artificial intelligence and autism can sometimes be framed in alarmist ways by media outlets chasing attention, clicks, or controversy. When complex subjects are reduced to frightening headlines, it becomes easy for people to react emotionally before they’ve had a chance to understand what the facts actually say. Taking a more deliberate, evidence-based approach can lead to much better judgment. Looking at real capabilities, limitations, outcomes, and lived experiences often reveals a far more nuanced picture than sensational coverage suggests. Neither AI nor autism is something that can be understood through fear alone. That doesn’t mean ignoring legitimate concerns. It means separating those concerns from exaggeration, misinformation, and drama—and making decisions based on what can actually be observed and supported. By taking the time to educate ourselves, question easy narratives, and look at complicated issues through a more thoughtful and practical lens, we give ourselves a better chance of making choices that lead to better outcomes for everyone. #TheAutisticMile #Autism #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodiversity #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #CriticalThinking #MediaLiteracy #ResponsibleAI #AutismAcceptance #UnderstandingAutism #DigitalLiteracy #EvidenceBased #Education #BetterDecisions #YouTubeShorts
