Clean hands and sterilized surgical equipment, are things which we take for granted today. Gerhard Domagk was determined to make his theories about disinfection known, despite much criticism. Although his research proved to him, he need to be sure before he could announce his discoveries. Once he confirmed what he knew to be a fact, it need no longer remain unknown to the medical community.
