Reikalas tas, kad norime to ar ne, esame linkę ieškoti, atsirinkti ir dalintis būtent ta informacija, kuri paremia konkrečiai mūsų nuomonę. Tai vadinama „patvirtinimo šališkumu“ (ang. confirmation bias). Bėda ta, kad beveik bet kokiu klausimu manančiųjų bus ir vienaip, ir visai priešingai. Neprieštaravimo dėsnis mums sako, kad ir kažkaip, ir visiškai priešingai būti negali, tad kažkurioje pusėje slypi klaida. Tiesa, parodžius, kad klaida yra mūsų mąstyme, jos pripažinti ne itin norime.
