马来西亚目前严缺心胸外科手术医生。目前马来西亚政府医院只有区区的14位心胸外科医生。而14为当中有几位已经要到退休年龄了。最大问题是，UiTM是唯一和国家心脏中心（IJN）合作进行“并行路径计划”（PPP），提供心胸外科系的大学。而UiTM只接收土著学生，非土著是无法进入的。那为什么马来西亚会如此缺乏心胸外科手术医生呢？学生都不读心胸外科系吗？而政府应该如何解决这个问题呢？
