Spoiler alert: this week we’re analyzing the Twilight Zone episode “The Mind and the Matter.” Archibald Beechcroft is tired–tired of the constant pushing and shoving, the incessant sounds, the scurrying about like rodents. In short, he’s tired of people. And so when a colleague at work gifts him a strange book titled The Mind and the Matter, which boasts the ability to unlock the amazing, colossal, stupendous power of concentration, Beachcroft is understandably skeptical. But, his skepticism begins to shift when he finally starts to put it to use. In this week’s KOI episode, we’re going to talk a bit about this whole mind over matter concept; we’ll try and figure out why he’s seeing these reflective manifestations of himself; and I’ll reveal my moment of awe, a rationale for why we could probably use a few more pains in the butt these days.
