Kolek Out Again as Royals Pitching Crisis Deepens | Kansas City Royals News

Stephen Kolek’s return to the Royals’ rotation was cut short when he landed back on the injured list with a flexor strain in his right arm—now sidelined for at least 15 days. Just weeks after coming off family medical leave and making a rehab appearance, the pitcher’s comeback was derailed. With the Royals’ pitching staff already battered by injuries, they’ve called up lefty Evan Sisk from Triple-A Omaha to fill the void. Kolek, who posted a 4-3 record and 4.50 ERA in 10 starts before his latest setback, had been showing promise—his last outing was July 3 against the Rays. Manager Matt Quatraro now faces mounting pressure to find stability in a rotation already missing key arms like Cole Ragans and Alec Marsh.
