Konami Citizenship: The 14th Amendment's Contra Cheat Code?

from Firing Lane Hosted by Croaky Caiman

In this episode of Firing Lane, Croaky Caiman takes a deep dive into the 14th Amendment's citizenship clause, exploring its origins, intentions, and surprising modern-day controversies. Croaky walks listeners through how the Radical Republicans designed this post-Civil War amendment to unify the nation, safeguard the rights of freed slaves, and crush secessionist ideologies. Croaky likens modern birthright citizenship to the Konami Code from the Nintendo game Contra—an unexpected “cheat code” that’s sparked debate over its unintended consequences. Is the 14th Amendment being exploited in ways the framers never foresaw? Tune in for a thought-provoking discussion blending history, humor, and a gator-sized dose of wisdom.
