Welche Rolle kann da überhaupt Deutschland noch spielen? Können wir tatsächlich Verhandlungspartner auf Augenhöhe werden? Die Autoren sind optimistisch: China brauche uns, politisch und wirtschaftlich. Sie empfehlen, Schlüsseltechnologien, Infrastruktur und Digitalisierung voranzutreiben - "Unentschlossenheit und Harmoniedenken” aber schnellstens abzulegen. Dass China unser System infrage stelle, sollte uns nicht frustrieren, sondern motivieren. Felix Lee: "China als systemischen Rivalen zu verteufeln, wird nur wenig bringen, ebenso wenig darauf zu hoffen, dass die KP-Führung ein verlässlicher Partner wird. Vielmehr ist China ein knallharter Wettbewerber geworden. Wir müssen alle Anstrengungen mobilisieren, um Deutschland und Europa technisch, infrastrukturell und geopolitisch wieder nach vorne zu bringen. Dazu gehört auch eine umfassende Industriepolitik”.
