Wielerliefhebbers werden vandaag wild wakker geschud na de rustdag: meerdere positieve tests in de Giro. Kruiswijk, Matthews meerdere leden van de staf bij Mitchelton – Scott. Het leidde tot het vertrek van dit team en Team Jumbo Visma en veel onrust in het peloton. Over de onrust, tests en de gevolgen hebben Jeroen Vanbelleghem, Jan Hermsen en Bobbie Traksel het met Sander Valentijn. Gelukkig, de koers was vergevingsgezind want we werden daarna getrakteerd op een heerlijke etappe. Bijna een eendagskoers, aldus Vanbelleghem. Wat gebeurde er dan wel niet allemaal?
