Remember "2001: A Space Odyssey"? The black monolith on the moon? Got the same feeling when traveling through the Toscany area near Volterra. In a sundried vast landscape there was suddenly this ring-shaped monument. Like something from out of this world. Impressive and inspiring. "Monuments" captures this motive and cinematic reminiscense in seven tracks that oscillate between dub, abstract and Kraut electronic with plenty of weird sounds, moving rhythms and subsonic basslines.
