Kris Herman on Creating Systems

from Intentional Performers · host Brian Levenson

Kris Herman is the Head softball coach and an assistant athletic director at Williams College. Before working at Williams, she spent 17 years at Tufts University as an Assistant coach before becoming the head coach of both softball and volleyball. She is now in her 15th year at Williams as their head softball coach. 700+ softball wins and four world series appearances later she has established herself as one of the top coaches in all of sport. Yet, as you’ll find out in this conversation, Kris talks more about her processes than her accolades. She is extremely thoughtful and innovative when it comes to how she interacts with and develops young people and teams. In this episode, she will give tangible ideas and tools that have helped her become the coach she is today. She is extremely intentional about the work she does with her athletes, and just as importantly, the work she does on herself. Kris is more than a coach. She is the founder of Team IMPACT (www.goteamimpact.org), which is a non-profit that connects children facing serious and chronic illnesses to local college athlete teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes. She is also involved with ONE Softball (www.onesoftball.com), which is a free community aimed to help share information on softball, character development and recruiting. Lastly, she is the owner of Go Team Coaching (https://goteamcoaching.com/), where she blogs about all things coaching.
