welcome to the weekly standard podcast i'm your host michael graham the question republicans are asking around the country is will the stupid party strike again without the legacy of this week in the news let's ask the week the standard bill crystal bill thanks so much your time to be ready michael so uh... i thought a great piece by quynn hillier saying uh... in essence the t-party doesn't want it to be canada service don't want to grassroots don't want it and that you don't want even bill crystal at the week standard doesn't want it why the republicans pushing ahead with immigration a uh... from the pre-daughter of election divided but again because uh...

then the big business decided to get involved in they like a lot of people ever one of the people from the middle of the outside of the house bill but by large amount of the amount of legal uh... low wage low-scale a lot of people like that i think very good for working-class americans wages uh... and then there's the uh... you think that if you say that the bad bill we just wait a year to look at that or three years of the white house as well i guess the combination at instinct acting on that it's like other the house republican here but do we know why the leadership of the decision even bring it up it would be like in the middle of you know of a wedding as fine you're going to marry off that kind of loser son you had this beautiful daughter in a wealthy family you know he's got a criminal record you don't know i mean we got this great deal for twenty fourteen but why is anybody using the i-word in this conversation that you the world these guys who've been tasty lobby of big is a world where where you got a little bit of a shit you know the progress on like a lot of the other over and i worry about it right well but i think the idea that they've had a lot of limited measures that are from the media or from liberals or for those of that i can get it right for that uh...

if they then go conference they think they're being betrayed which they will be being uh... you see republican congressmen being quoted saying that great well to you're at a blog at the uh... well we're going to wait to move it to that they will be an uproar i mean if people think they voted for a public he was against certain that they'll be independent candidates but i'll get fifteen percent of the actual email class america ladies be that in the sense of this is what's interesting to me is uh... during the twenty twelve campaign the uh...

left a great job of portraying uh... mit romney and therefore the party represented as the party of the kind of wealthy people who prosper when there's lots of cheap labor you know people competing at the bottom of the uh... of the latter to be there you know long landscapers or their construction guys or their employees now we have the same people on the left saying that you're absolutely right you are going to prosper by shafting these low-income workers let's have them together says president obama to you know a big business republicans it's a weird coalition on this issue it is a book i think it's a fake republic from the tone especially of the rhetoric used against bush and the parts of law that he didn't like it obama will go for public debate because we better get forty percent of this matter if romney had gotten the exact same percentage you were lost i mean people should get themselves to the fact that in fact you might be able to hope that i think there are many issues on which they are quite concerned could be a deal to much more effective twenty sixteen uh... for compared to the what the damage will do to the public party this year moving ahead i agree with you know the wedding is going well it may be not perfect but it's really good not alone and that a way to go forward the guy pops up i think i can't prove i think i could clarify a few things i mean i i think that's becoming more evidence does show how deep a sort of simple-minded or but not very many people involved in that this is more of the possibility of combination of the business the path and media pressure that's not acceptable part of the party or that i was not this is an opportunity as you know particularly people who are thirty forty thousand or less a year c what life is really like in the president obama their mobility has gotten worse not better their job opportunities have gotten worse not better and now here's a present in a party saying let's bring in between one in three million people a year to legally compete against you not to mention the illegal ones this is a chance republic to say we are the true reagan democrat blue collar you work for living we are on your team party you're going to blow it on this it's worse than just an errors it's the opportunity cost that we are and you're doing it a moment where in fact republican finally elected officials begin to pick up on some of the pretty good conservative or might be is that are targeted at working class in the middle class americans and likely others have begun to really try to think about how you know what the right thing to do with some of these areas how to report about the healthy way though again i don't think the republic is your best immigrants i don't know if you really talk about the thing that much at all they just need to say it's not an urgency there's a work to do so crisis the debate is that this part of a fifteen years we need to deal with it the opposite of the car fifteen years you don't need to deal with it this year suppose the next year if it's a word in white and president obama do something when the number of the program nine ten because why did you do something with a record of that raise it he didn't mention it in the democratic well he knew that it was politically problematic now he's decided it's never got to decide the media decided it has happened this year and some republicans are sort of but i i think there will be a lot of reaction against leadership you know at this point i would bring up the super bowl but you're in d c in the red skin will never be a super bowl in my lifetime i just think it's mean-spirited to do so who you were for you before i am uh...

i've i've no dog in this fight but i think what's going to happen is that defense will be a offense and that the c lc hawks will win and it won't be a little bit more than anything and of course you told me there was no chance that he was to be pretty so i feel so i feel good i feel good about this month here's what happened the pod people came and replaced the new england patreon team that playing all year with this other team that we never saw before we somewhere the real patrons being held hostage in a basement and we're going to have to find them or lease them because that wasn't the pictures but anyway there's going to be a super bowl sunday something we can all rally around and i hope your publicans to get a little clear i'd and rally around the right stuff as well because i'll thank so much for your time my pleasure
