Seit zwei Jahren arbeite ich als Cloud Engineer täglich mit Kubernetes. Ich bin davon begeistert und möchte nicht zu „ssh + vi“ oder Konfigurations-Management Tools (Ansible, Terraform) zurück wechseln. Die Vorteile von Kubernetes möchte ich in zwei Dritteln des Vortrags erklären. Im letzten Drittel möchte ich Kubernetes kritisch hinterfragen. Für welchen Kontext ist es sinnvoll, für welchen nicht? Inhalt: * Was ist Kubernetes? * Gibt es Alternativen? * Theorie von Controllern. Wunschzustand und Endlosschleife: Ist-Zustand prüfen, ggf Aktion ausführen, Ist-Zustand prüfen … * Manifests: YAML * kubectl (vgl SQL) * Quasistandards: Cilium, Cert-Manager, cloudnative PostgresSQL, ... * Cluster-API: Kubernetes Cluster mit Kubernetes verwalten (zB Cluster-API Provider Hetzner von Syself) * Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Big Tech, globale Zusammenarbeit * Golang, CRDs, Kubebuilder * Selber betreiben oder mieten? * Brauche ich Kubernetes?
