Es ist die einzigartige Geschichte der einst geteilten und dann wiedervereinten Stadt Berlin, welche den Boden für Subkultur und eine riesige freie Szene schaffen konnte. Die Technokultur Berlins ist sogar UNESCO-Welterbe. 1.5 Milliarden Euro generierte allein der Clubtourismus 2023 in der deutschen Hauptstadt. Doch die Kulturszene ist bedroht. Gentrifizierung, Clubsterben, Covidfolgen und der Rechtsrutsch in Deutschlands Politik machen den Kulturschaffenden Sorgen. «Ich war immer sehr verliebt in Berlin, aber nun überlege ich mir häufiger wieder von hier wegzugehen», erzählt die Italienerin Magdalena Mitterhofer. Berlin verliert seinen Standortvorteil. Und ausgerechnet jetzt greift die linke Regierung in Berlin zum Rotstift – 12 Prozent weniger Geld für Kultur, gibt es allein in diesem Jahr. Berlins Identität als Kulturmetropole wird gerade neu verhandelt. Und mit Angst verfolgt: «Die Clubszene zu verlieren, bedeutet das Herzstück Berlins zu verlieren», bedauert Emiko Gejic, die bei der Clubkommission für die Szene lobbyiert. Der Puls der Stadt verändert sich.
