KUT Interview: Powerful Photo Of Search And Possible Separation At US-Mexico Border

You have probably seen this photo before: A two-year-old Honduran girl is looking up - distraught and crying - as a purple-gloved hand is sliding into a front pocket of her mother’s blue jeans. A figure in khaki pants - the same one wearing the purple glove - has their back to the camera. The mother is being searched shortly after she and her daughter had rafted across the Rio Grande into Texas. Getty Images special correspondent John Moore took that photo in June, 2018. It is up for “World Press Photo of the Year." KUT's Jennifer Stayton talked with Moore about the photo and how he came to cover the U-S Mexico border. Moore's 2018 book is " Undocumented: Immigration and the Militarization of the United States-Mexico Border."
