Kwan and DeLauter Lead the Charge | Cleveland Guardians News

Steven Kwan and Chase DeLauter are lighting up the Guardians’ lineup, turning every game into a scoring threat. Kwan, batting leadoff, is on fire—45 of his last 50 games with a base, hitting over .350, with manager Vogt calling him “back to being Kwanie.” DeLauter, hitting second, is equally dominant, reaching base 16 of 17 games in August, also hitting over .350, and simplifying his approach to just compete. Together, they’ve reached base 13 times in 29 plate appearances during a three-game sweep, driving in runs and clogging the bases. Meanwhile, young phenom Ralphy Velazquez is crushing it in Triple-A with 27 homers, but the Guardians are holding off a call-up due to roster crunch and looming lockout fears. And David Fry, who was scorching in the minors, is stuck on the bench in Vogt’s platoon system, with limited at-bats against lefties—working hard but waiting for his moment.
