KXAN Investigates -- E66: One year later: What was the impact of the July floods in Travis County? (June 27, 2026)

from KXAN Investigates · host KXAN News

Newly released 911 calls from the deadly Kerr County floods capture the chaos of July 4, 2025 and bring back into focus questions about whether more could have been done to save lives and the changes county officials have made since. This week on Inside the Investigation, Investigative Reporter Grace Reader explains what she heard on the 911 call recordings obtained by KXAN, including the very first of the nearly 200 calls received by Travis County dispatch during the flood event. For many callers, these recordings were a lifeline. For others, a final goodbye.
