KYD 050 - E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
No, Brendan Fraser isn't in this one. And no, Kurt Russell isn't in it either. So it must be a pretty great movie if neither of those dudes are needed to buoy it up. And hey! What do you know? It's just one of the greatest film classics of all time: Steven Spielberg's love letter to alien life, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial! This is the incredible story of a boy named Elliott and his deep connection to an alien being that has accidentally been left behind by their spaceship. This movie was such a phenomenon that it singlehandedly made Reese's Pieces a popular candy and Drew Barrymore a household name. So much of this movie has permeated popular culture: E.T. phone home, the bike flying past the moon, the glowing fingertip. But ask yourself this question...when was the last time you actually watched E.T. from beginning to end? This was the question our hosts had to ask themselves...and then answer by watching and discussing it on this week's show. So join us and find out...does E.T. live up to all the hype?
