Kyle Gamba - Unschooling

from Humble Badass Educators Hosted by Jeremy John Jensen

This week’s episode is with Dr. Kyle Gamba. Kyle currently has two projects in the works. The first is BoldEDU, a collaborative organization that is working in response to our current needs in our world of COVID to provide high quality, educational, and experiential Learning Circles that are accessible for families from all income levels in the Denver area. He is also working to open La Luz, a bilingual micro “unschool” that will be intentionally designed to look very different from the traditional school. In our conversation, Kyle discusses what he means by “unschool” and his philosophies on how education should move towards more experiential opportunities for students and be grounded in character development and building meaningful relationships. He also shares how giving back to make our world better should be a primary focus for all learners and how instruction should be focused more around coaching - working and learning side-by-side a variety of experts. Thanks again for tuning in to this conversation with Kyle Gamba, today’s Humble Badass Educator.
