Send us Fan MailIn the University of Kentucky’s illustrious basketball history, Kyle Macy inherits a prominent place – and spawned a generation of boys named Kyle in Kentucky.Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 1975 while playing for his father Bob at Peru High, the 6-3 point guard was a three-year starter for the Wildcats after spending his freshman season at Purdue.Macy helped the Wildcats capture the 1978 national title, breaking a 20-year drought that likely felt like a century-long drought to Big Blue Nation.When Macy’s collegiate career closed in 1980, he had a resume to rival any Wildcat: three All-American nods, an SEC Player of the Year award, and two SEC titles in addition to the 1978 national title.
