KylEast Singer, Songwriter: An Artist’s Journey With An Eating Disorder Episode 28

from Boss Goddess

Today we have a special episode that features a very special guest that talks with me about a difficult and important topic.  To go even deeper into how triggers might be affecting us, I wanted to open up the conversation to specifically include those of you who might be struggling with an addiction or are in a recovery process, which brings an extra layer to managing and coping during quarantine. So I brought on a guest who will share her experience with you about her journey with having an eating disorder.  She is KylEast, a powerful singer songwriter who just released her new single CHAINS. Stay tuned to the end of this episode to be able to listen to the song in it’s entirety. A recent review of the song by All Ashore explains the theme really well: “[KylEast] tackles body dysmorphia and anorexia in another industrial, synth-laden gut punch. Her words begin as hushed lamentations before leaping into a full rage against the commodification of self, spitting such condemnations as “Here she is / Your worthless wonder,” with as much contempt as empathy.  It lays bare the horrors of feeling ashamed of your own body while still attempting to talk yourself out of a hole. Her delivery is drenched with conviction and the drive of someone who has personal experience with the words they sing. If KylEast aimed for a body image anthem, she has absolutely succeeded.”  Visit KylEast's website: www.kyleast.com  Instagram: @KylEastMusic Get CHAINS on iTunes or Spotify Watch the music video on YouTube If you are seeking help or think you might need help with an eating disorder, check out these resources: NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) ANAD  (National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders) For more support, join our Facebook Group designated to this podcast also called Be Bold Begin.  Stay safe and healthy out there.
