Cada uno de los rebeldes abatidos por las fuerzas franquistas era exhibido en el pueblo antes de arrojar sus restos a una fosa común. Maquis fue sinónimo de resistente y se define como un campo de matorrales. También fue el hogar de las guerrillas rurales que enfrentaron al fascismo español con la única ayuda de los vecinos que acercaban alimentos o engañaban con falsos relatos a los soldados que rastrillaban los poblados de una España ensangrentada. A los 14 años, María de los Ángeles Fernández Abad integraba la agrupación junto a otras mujeres que desgranaban una adolescencia entre el zumbido de las balas y los amores que caen desplomados en la trinchera. Fue solo Angelines hasta que decidió huir de la persecución franquista y alcanzar asilo durante algunos años en la isla de Cuba. Tiempo después se radicaría en un departamento frente al patio principal de la vecindad, en cualquier distrito popular de México. Para ubicarla, había que indagar por el número 71, golpear dos veces la puerta y preguntar por la Bruja. La vecina enamorada de su “roro”, era la reivindicación de una mujer soltera con independencia económica, aunque cargaba con la estigmatización de los mandatos culturales de los años 70 y 80. Don Ramón padecía escalofríos en la espalda cuando la mujer de vestido azul hasta los tobillos y un sombrero de fiesta avejentado, le susurraba al oído y luego, se mordía los labios para saborear la osadía. Antes de ser la Vieja del 71, Angelines había filmado con Cantinflas y Arturo de Córdoba en la época de oro del cine mexicano. El apodo que la inmortalizó entre millones de televidentes en todo el mundo se debió a los supuestos dotes espiritistas del personaje. En realidad, fue el poder de la Lechiguana que parecía brotar en los rituales de incienso y humo. Quico, la Chilindrina y el Chavo presumían con su temor de niños que podría embrujarlos y convertirlos en chichicuilotes.

Mohammad Qutub Muslim Central Dr. Mohammad Qutub is an Islamic scholar with several decades of experience as a teacher and orator. He completed his Master’s and PhD degrees in Uṣūl al-Dīn and Comparative Religion at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and has several Ijāzahs (licenses) and certificates in Qur’an, Hadith, etc. He has spoken internationally in the Middle East, the U.S., and Southeast Asia and regularly holds intensive seminars and university lectures.
