L’accordo commerciale RCEP fra Cina, Giappone, Corea, Australia, Nuova Zelanda. Vietnam e altre economie del Pacifico (ma che esclude USA e India) segna un punto a favore della Cina. L'impatto economico non sara' eclatante perche' i dazi erano gia' piuttosto bassi, grazie al WTO e aspetti sostanziali come il rispetto della proprieta' intellettuale dei diritti dei lavoratori vengono tenuti fuori dalle intese. Inoltre manca un meccanismo di risoluzione delle dispute. Insomma e' un accordo di tipo tradizionale con caratteristiche obsolete. Pero' politicamente crea un ulteriore legame delle economie del Pacifico con la Cina mentre gli USA dopo Trump anche con la presidenza Biden sembrano sempre inclini al protezionismo. Il TPP, il patto transpacifico negoziato da Obama in ottica anti-cinese e che Trump ha buttato a mare non e' stato un argomento di campagna elettorale.
