La Crosse city budget talks, committees and the school's 4K with Mac Kiel
from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff
Mac Kiel in studio for La Crosse Talk discussing some of the different things going on with city government, including the ongoing zoning changes occurring, looking at next week’s committee meetings, and what the school district is doing with 4-K. The city is also having a meeting today over the budget, where it looks like there needs to be about $1.5 million in cuts. La Crosse Mayor Shaundel Washington-Spivey will be on later this week to help break that down more than we went over on the show with Kiel. Two highlights from the Finance and Personnel committee meeting next week include upgrades to the Second Street cycle track — with the Wisconsin DOT adding some matching funding. The state looks to also add a stop light — probably with a left-turn arrow — to Birch Street at Mormon Coulee Road. That intersection, according to the agenda, is ranked 24th in La Crosse County, by HSIP crash value, amongst all signalized intersections. One thing we didn’t get to, but could bring up against with Washington-Spivey, is the operations director position being back on committee. It was voted down last month in committee and put off for 30 days by the full council on a 9-4 vote.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
