La Lechuza (the Witch-Owl)

from Espooky Tales · host Cristina & Carmen

The legend of the Lechuza is one familiar to many Mexican and Mexican-American people. Sightings of this giant white owl (though sometimes black) have been reported in the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas and in Rio grande Valley of Texas and California, especially southern CA. Legend tells that the Lechuza is a witch who seeks revenge and is said to carry off people to eat, whistle like a baby to lure you outside and more. We also share other stories of witches and owls, and how many cultures across the world view owls. Follow us on Instagram: instagram.com/espookytales Email us your spooky stories or folklore you want us to discuss: [email protected] Support Espooky Tales: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/espookytales Music Credit: Silent Night (Dark Piano Version)-Myuu Link for sources: https://www.espookytales.com/blog/la-lechuza-the-witch-owl/
