LA PALTA ARGENTINA En Argentina la palta es una fruta conocida hace mucho, dado que es un árbol habitual en el norte del país, como en los lugares protegidos de las zonas templadas, Hace unos 30 años el cultivo comercial era prácticamente desconocido en nuestro país. Podía haber árboles en alguna quintas o jardín y su comercialización era esporádica, con un producto de calidad regular y precio variable. A partir de los años ochenta se empieza a difundir la variedad Hass, importada, principalmente desde Chile. Una variedad de mejor calidad culinaria que las paltas que se comercializaban hasta ese momento y que, por su pequeño tamaño, la puede consumir una sola persona, cuando una variedad de palta más grande le sobra. Actualmente podemos contar con esta excelente variedad y otras también, de producción nacional y a un muy buen precio en relación a sus propiedades alimenticias. Veamos los principales aportes de la palta • Contiene un 60% más potasio que la banana. • También contiene otros minerales como el magnesio, el fósforo, el calcio, hierro, sodio, yodo y zinc. • Participa en la prevención de enfermedades oculares como cataratas o la degeneración macular. • Nos ayuda a mantener unos niveles de colesterol y triglicéridos óptimos. Hay un mito sobre los aportes de la palta Si bien es uno de los pocos frutos que tienen un aporte importante de sustancias grasas esto no es un problema. La composición de su aceite es, en su mayoría de Oleico, el mismo que el aceite de oliva, con sus conocidos beneficios para una alimentación saludable. Lo que si debemos saber es que las paltas tienen un alto aporte en calorías, si lo comparamos con otros frutos. Si consideramos diferentes variedades y orígenes, las paltas se encuentran presentes durante todo el año en verdulerías de Río Cuarto y la región, pero tengamos en cuenta que la mejor época para su consumo es ésta, por la oferta de paltas argentinas y el mejor precio. Prior to studying medicine, she pursued classical Islamic studies in Damascus, Syria, and holds certifications (ijaza) in the Qur’an, Islamic Law, and other branches of the Islamic Sciences.
