Daniel Barragán es Químico y doctor en Ciencias – Química de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, y profesor de la misma institución. Su área de investigación disciplinar se enfoca en el estudio de la organización y sincronización de sistemas disipativos. En su grupo de investigación tiene una línea de investigación en educación química, con énfasis en la conceptualización del conocimiento científico. En su charla ofrecida en la cátedra Saberes con Sabor, el doctor Barragán se centró en la conmemoración del Año Internacional de la Tabla Periódica, definido por la Unesco para recordar la creación, hace 150 años, de esta síntesis de los 118 elementos que componen todo nuestro mundo conocido. El doctor Barragán hizo un recuento de los aportes científicos que llevaron a la construcción colectiva de la Tabla Periódica, cuyo aporte final estuvo en manos del Dimitri Mendeléyev.
