Labor Day - 9/2/2023

Sue Kirchmyer and Mark look at the surprising origins of the US Labor Day. We also look at the recent settlement of the Teamsters workers with UPS. We look at the many strikes going on in Los Angeles, a deep dig into the success of the Oakland school teachers strike, and the bargaining for the common good in all these examples. We glance at another Starbucks being organized in Missoula and explore what the United Autoworkers demand from the Big 3 automakers and the prospect of a strike in September. Finally we look at some good changes in labor law by the NLRB. We rerun our interview of David Van Deusen, President of the Vermont AFL-CIO, from last year's Labor Day show.
