Labour victory, Fr Paul Bear, New Archivist, Calentita, Llanitos Abroad

from Gibraltar Today

The UK has voted in a new Government: the Labour Party won by a landslide, with 412 seats of the 650 constituencies. Sir Keir Starmer will take up the post. David Lammy is expected to be appointed the Foreign Secretary and lead the negotiations for a future EU relationship treaty for Gibraltar. How do people on the Rock feel about having Labour at the wheel? Christina Cortes spoke to locals, as well as the Chief Minister, about their reactions to the election result. How long have you been at your job? On Sunday the congregation of St Joseph's Church came out to celebrate 40 years of Father Paul Bear's ordination. A day of prayer and celebration and a lot of reflection. We spoke to Father Bear in the studio. Gerry Wood has been appointed as Gibraltar’s new archivist. We invited him to the studio to ask him how he feels about taking on the role.  It is arguably the most popular community event of the year - the Calentita Food Festival is finally upon us! Tomorrow evening, John Mackintosh Square and Campion Park will be awash with hungry bellies to enjoy cuisines and dishes from around the world. There are 20 stalls in place tomorrow, most of which are permanent, but we can look forward to some new additions for the 15th edition of the festival. Alex Muñoz, who is preparing a Mexican stall at the festival, told us more. And, we have a brand-new segment on the show called "Llanitos Abroad". Every Friday we speak to a Gibraltarian living and working away from the Rock. Today we caught up with 59-year-old airline pilot Mark Carreras!  Hosted on Acast.
