Ladies First, with Jinty & Lou

from WomenKind Collective

As the Jubilee celebrations are in full flow we thought in this week’s podcast we would look at women in 1952 and in 2022 and there’s some quite shocking differences. We have a royal quiz, for you to test your knowledge on all things royalty, and ensuring we keep it real we talk dildos whilst travelling, Jodie Comer’s one woman play, Prima Facie and also why we celebrate a Texan mum. There’s high fashion news for your feet and there’s talk of the Westminster/Pestminster scandal that is unravelling. With the sell out production of Prima Facie, a brilliant play starring Jody Comer, that we were lucky enough to attend, we were appalled at how the legal system treats rape victims, so we decided to research a little more and found some truly distressing statistics, only 16% of rape victims report their assault to the police and 49% had been a victim of rape or sexual assault before. We ask if enough is being done since the Minister for Justice announced new funding to support victims of rape?We review the sell out play which you can soon see at cinemas near you, and highly recommend that you do. You’ll be in good company, we were sat with Jeremy Irons and Sinead Cusack! Our Book Collective reads up to Book 2, Chapter 3 Of Anita Diamant’s the Red Tent, we discuss the treatment of Ruti by the women and how Dinah finds her body. Jacob leaves Laban’s lands and moves the women to his homeland, but will there be a warm welcome for them? Next week we read Book 2 to chapter 5 page 175. We announce our new Foodie theme for June and we find out if we have completed any of the walks for the WI? There’s a thought provoking quote to get you thinking this week plus the Collective’s comments as well as all the usual banter and brain fog!If you’ve enjoyed our podcast Please subscribe or favourite and leave a review- we will know and it makes a huge difference. Our campaign for a Menopause Clinic in Devon is moving closer but we still need signatures on our petition: https://www.change.org/p/wheresmyclinicOr to send your testimonials please email us: [email protected] finally, if you would like the templates to send to your MP or CCG please visit our website: https://menopauseclinicfordevon.co.uk--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/womenkindcollectivepodcast/message☕ SUBSCRIBE for honest chats on women’s health, feminist issues, sisterhood & smashing the patriarchy, one cuppa at a time.💛 Enjoying the podcast?
