Lahtelaiset ovat antaneet äänensä osallistuvan budjetoinnin ideoille. Asukasideoita äänesti yhteensä 4691 lahtelaista eli 3,9 % kaupungin asukkaista. Lasten ja nuorten osuus äänestäneistä kaksinkertaistui. Kaupunkilaisilta tuli yli 950 ideaa. Niistä 177 eteni äänestysvaiheeseen. Toteutettavat ideat valitaan äänimäärän perusteella, minkä lisäksi ne pitää sovittaa alueen budjettiin. Ideoiden toteuttamiseen on varattu yhteensä 200 000 euroa vuodelle 2022. Määrärahat jakautuvat viiteen yhtä suureen osaan: pohjoiselle, eteläiselle, itäiselle ja keskustan alueelle sekä koko kaupunkia koskeviin hankkeisiin, kullekin alueelle 40 000 euroa. Äänten laskennassa tarkistetaan, että äänestäjät ovat lahtelaisia. Vain Lahden postinumerolla jätetyt äänet otetaan huomioon. Hyvinvoinnin ja vapaa-ajan lautakunta vahvistaa toteutettavat ideat vuoden ensimmäisessä kokouksessaan keskiviikkona 27.1. ja äänestyksen tulos julkaistaan seuraavana päivänä kaupungin verkkosivuilla www.lahti.fi/osbu.
