Lake Guntersville Fishing Report: Bass Bites, Crappie Slabs, and Trophy Largemouths

from Lake Guntersville, Alabama Fishing Report Today · host Inception Point AI

Hey y'all, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Guntersville fishing report for March 26, 2025. We're looking at a beautiful spring day with partly cloudy skies and highs around 72°F. There's a light breeze from the southeast, perfect for a day on the water. Sunrise was at 6:32 AM and sunset will be at 7:06 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to work with. Now, being a landlocked lake, we don't have tides to worry about, but water levels have been holding steady around 595 feet. The Corps of Engineers has been running some current through the dam, which has really fired up the fish activity. Speaking of fish, the bass bite has been on fire! Anglers have been reporting limits of 20+ pounds, with several trophy largemouths in the 7-9 pound range being caught. The spawn is in full swing, with bass moving up shallow to their beds. Crappie fishing has also been excellent, with some nice slabs being pulled from brush piles in 8-12 feet of water. Catfish action has been steady, especially for those night fishing with cut bait. For lures, you can't go wrong with a lipless crankbait like a Rat-L-Trap in red or gold. Chatterbaits in white or chartreuse have also been producing well when worked through the grass. For finesse fishing, a shaky head worm in green pumpkin has been money. If you're looking for live bait, shiners and nightcrawlers have been the ticket for bass and crappie respectively. As for hot spots, I'd recommend checking out the grass beds around Seibold Creek or working the ledges near South Sauty Creek. The bridge pilings at the Highway 431 causeway have also been holding some good fish. Remember folks, the fish are shallow and aggressive, so don't be afraid to get up in that skinny water and make some noise. Tight lines and good fishing!
